RCS – Rich Communication Services
RCS – A smart way to communicate
RCS offers a completely new way to send messages with rich content, such as images, videos, and buttons, to create an entirely new form of interaction between the sender and the recipient. Thanks to the technology, it is also possible to create automated bots that the recipient communicates with directly via their mobile phone, for example, when booking trips, using customer support, or handling other types of daily errands that require fast and effective management.
Interactive features
RCS also supports features that SMS has lacked, such as read receipts and verified senders, which makes communication with your customers a secure channel where you can follow up on whether your message has been delivered and read, right down to the recipient level!
Can everyone receive RCS?
In Sweden, most operators support RCS to and between Android devices. Support for Apple devices is currently not available in Sweden and is being evaluated by the operators, as support for the technology was added to RCS in iOS 18.
What happens if the recipient doesn't support RCS?
Every time you send an RCS message, a check is performed to see if the device supports the protocol before it's sent. If the device in question supports RCS, your message is sent. If the device doesn't support it, a standard SMS is sent instead, and all interactive elements are converted to links or images completely automatically.
